How do I buy verification credits and run a check?

Buy credits, approve a quote, follow a run, and retry no-answers.

Verification credits are prepaid, separate from your subscription, and do not expire. One answered address costs one credit.

  1. Open Verification, then Overview.
  2. Select Buy credits.
  3. Under Buy more, choose an amount.
  4. Check Total, then select Buy N credits.
  5. Confirm with Current password, or Confirm with Google.
  6. Select Continue to payment and pay on Stripe.

Only an Owner or Admin can buy. Purchasing is desktop only.

Purchase rule Value
Minimum 1,000 credits
Maximum 25,000 credits
Step 100 credits
Price $0.01 per credit

The smallest purchase is $10 and the largest is $250.

Checks can start from Verification, a list, an import, or a campaign review.

  1. Select Check them.
  2. Read Check these addresses?.
  3. Confirm the number of addresses, credit cost, balance, and any shortfall.
  4. Select Check them, or Check the first N when the balance covers only part.

When the balance covers none, select Top up credits to open the verification-credit purchase screen.

An address already covered by a running check is removed from the quote. If every address is covered, ColdMerge names the existing check and spends nothing.

State Meaning
Queued Waiting to start
Checking The provider is processing addresses
Verification upload needs attention ColdMerge is checking whether the provider accepted an upload whose response was lost
Check complete Verdicts and credits spent are final
Check failed Nothing was charged; start it again

You can leave the page. The run continues on the server.

A run fails without charge if it waits more than 30 minutes to start or remains unfinished for 24 hours. A provider outage is retried before that limit.

If the checker may have accepted an upload but its response was lost, the run shows Verification upload needs attention. ColdMerge pauses and checks for the existing batch instead of uploading the same run again. It does not knowingly create a duplicate provider charge. You can leave the page while recovery runs; if the run cannot be recovered before its time limit, its reserved credits return.

The completed panel shows Alive, Dead, Risky, and No-answer totals. It also names:

  • fresh results reused for free;
  • suppressed or invalid addresses skipped for free;
  • addresses left unchecked because the balance ran out.
  1. Open the completed run.
  2. Select Retry the N no-answers for free.
  3. Confirm the new quote.

An address costs one credit only if the retry now returns Alive, Dead, or Risky. Another No-answer remains free.

Provider errors are included in this retry even when they could not leave a verification result. Contacts erased since the check and addresses answered by a later check are left out. Addresses that your balance never covered are not no-answers and are not included.

It starts a new run over just those addresses. Anything that answers this time costs its one credit as usual. Anything still undecided costs nothing again. A no-answer is often temporary at the other end, so a retry an hour later is often worth it.

Open Verification, then Verifications. Filter by status, search by run label, page through results, or select Export CSV. The export includes the whole filtered history, not only the visible page.

Rows show what was checked, when, who started it, progress or verdict totals, and credits spent. A failed row reads Failed, not charged.

An unused, whole credit pack is refundable within 14 days of purchase. Email hello@coldmerge.com. Spent credits are not refundable.

A refund or chargeback removes the pack from the wallet. The balance can become negative, and new checks wait until you buy enough credits.
