How do I set up a tracking domain?

Add a tracking hostname, publish two CNAME records, and verify it.

You need a subdomain you control, such as track.example.com. Only an Owner or Admin can add, re-check, change, or remove it.

  1. Open Settings, then Tracking.
  2. Enter the full subdomain in Tracking hostname.
  3. Select Add tracking domain.

Use a subdomain, not the root domain. ColdMerge supports one tracking domain per Organization.

ColdMerge shows two records:

Record Purpose
Routing (CNAME) Sends tracking traffic to the ColdMerge proxy
Certificate delegation (CNAME) Allows the HTTPS certificate to be issued and renewed
  1. Open your DNS provider.
  2. Create both CNAME records exactly as shown.
  3. Save the DNS changes.

Keep the ColdMerge page open so you can copy the names and targets exactly.

  1. Return to Settings, then Tracking.
  2. Leave the page open. While setup is pending, it re-checks every 30 seconds for up to 15 minutes and shows Checking automatically… under the button. Select Re-check now to check at once.
  3. If it says Still waiting, your DNS has not updated yet. Select Re-check now once it has.

It re-checks only while the tab is in front, and only for an Owner or Admin.

The checklist confirms the routing record, certificate-delegation record, and HTTPS certificate separately. When all three pass, the page says Your tracking domain is verified.

Select Change domain on a verified domain, or Remove domain while setup is pending. Confirm with Remove domain, then add the replacement.

New campaigns cannot enable tracking until the replacement is verified. Campaigns already launched keep their existing links working.

If the screen says Tracking is not available here, the deployment does not serve tracking domains. An administrator must enable it.
